This New Brunswick Scientific AS-10 Agar Sterilizer automates the sterilization of various agars and nutrient broths. Sterilization is carried out under precisely controlled conditions of time and temperature. Volumes of one to ten liters can be sterilized and cooled to the dispense temperature in less than 90 minutes. This is accomplished without an external steam supply. Sterilization, temperature, time and dispense temperature are readily adjustable for preparation of different agars. A solid-state temperature controller and a water-jacketed sterilization vessel provide accurate regulation. This, along with a large impeller operating at slow speed, provides optimum heat transfer without local hot spots or introducing air bubbles into the media. After sterilization, an automatic solenoid valve permits tepid water to circulate through the water jacket, quickly cooling the nutrient to a pre-set dispense temperature that is maintained until the contents are emptied. Dispensing is made easy through the harvesting valve assembly. A quick-connect fitting is supplied to ensure a quick, aseptic connection of a sterilized dispense tube. Unique AS-10 features ensure quality product time after time. An absolute sterile filter is sterilized in place each time the AS-10 is run. Automatic venting eliminates foaming during sterilization and maintains positive pressure during cool-down and dispensing. The top-mounted dispense valve and vessel design combine efficiently to reduce hold-up volume. Total Vessel Volume is 12 liters, Working Volume is 1 to 10 liters Operating Pressure is 0 to 25 PSIG. The Agitation Rate is 57 rpm. Sterilization cycles are adjustable from 0 to 120 minutes at 50°C to 125°C. Automatic cool-down to dispensing temperature is front panel set.

The New Brunswick Scientific MP-1000 is an automated dish-filling system that produces high quality agar plates at a low cost. It is a single-carousel design petri dish filler that automatically dispenses sterile agar into covered plastic petri dishes. The space-efficient design uses the same carousel to hold both empty and filled dishes without the need for separate empty and filled stacking areas. You can load up to 320 dishes of size 100 x 15 or 60 x 15 mm. An optional Conversion Kit (purchased separately) is available for quick change of petri dish sizes. The PourMatic has two operating modes: Continuous and Batch. Continuous Mode allows processing one stack of petri dishes at a time. The user removes stacks of filled dishes and loads empty dishes on a continuous basis. In Batch Mode, the user loads up to 320 dishes and the PourMatic automatically fills them in one single run. The agar filled petri dishes cool by natural convection. A digital timer set by the user, signals the end of a cooling cycle. Petri dishes are filled with a user-selected volume of agar by an integral peristaltic metering pump. Accurate and reproducible dispensing is achieved by regulating pump
revolutions. Dispense volume is independent of variations in line voltage. Agar dispenses at low velocity to provide a gentle flow into the dish and the volume of the dispensed agar is adjustable by the user. The PourMatic features three operating speeds to allow gentle handling of full dishes or maximum processing rates with normally filled dishes. Petri dishes filled by the PourMatic are level, uniform and bubble-free. The PourMatic shuts off automatically at the end of the filling cycle, signaled by an audible tone. Automatic shut-off occurs as audible and visible signals alert the user of an upside-down, half or jammed dish. As a safety feature, the germicidal lamp is controlled by an interlock switch; it lights only when the dust cover is properly positioned. It pours up to 900 plates per hour (15 dishes per minute), or 320 plates per carousel (8 stacks of 40 dishes). Without operator intervention, the pourMatic aseptically dispenses agar into 100 or 60 mm Petri dishes and stacks the steril plates in a carousel for cooling. Dispensing volume is adjustable from 5-40mL.
